Orchardgrass Hay

Orchardgrass is a cool season bunchgrass with widespread importance in the U.S. hay market.  It is widely produced and commonly used in both pasture and hay applications and has the potential, when properly managed, to generate excellent quality hay.

The most important factor in choosing an orchardgrass hay product that you as the customer should consider is maturity level.  Jamback's orchardgrass hay is harvested in the vegetative to boot stages when forage quality is highest.  Protein and other important nutritive factors decrease rapidly as the plant matures*.

Good quality orchardgrass is highly palatable and has a wide range of applications in your forage program.  It has the available energy and protein composition for your high activity level animals but it can also meet the needs of less active individuals**. This grass is often combined with other types of legumes such as alfalfa to provide more nutritional value.

Jamback's orchardgrass is leafy, soft to the touch and doesn't contain coarse stalks or over mature flower heads.  Orchardgrass should always have that beautiful blue-green color - and ours does!
