Pellets & Cubes
At Jamback we believe forage should be the basis of your feeding program, no matter if you have horses, sheep, goats, rabbits or even elephants! Quality forage is essential for maintenance of your animal’s health as is the selection of the appropriate forage for your unique situation. Concurrently, feeding an appropriate volume is just as important and can have a dramatic impact on your animal’s body weight maintenance and their performance. This is where forage cubes and pellets shine.
Jamback has once again teamed up with Major Agricultural Products (Major Ag), this time to bring you the absolute best and highest quality alfalfa cubes, alfalfa pellets, Timothy pellets and grass / alfalfa mix pellets and cubes available today. Quality is as important to us as it is to you, so we are bringing you only the best of the best!
Why choose cubes or pellets over regular hay? That answer really depends on your unique situation. We got together with our team to discuss the advantages of feeding pellets and cubes. One of the main reasons is reduced feed waste. This is primarily because the pellets and cubes are short fibered and more homogenous, so your animals can’t as easily separate the more desirable and palatable parts of the hay (leaves) from the less tasty ones (stems). They are also easier for most people to measure, which leads to more consistent feeding. This helps regulate the exact amount being fed, so daily intake is easily measured and can be adjusted if your animal’s nutritional requirements change. Alfalfa pellets and cubes, or any other type of pellets and cubes, are also easy to handle, store and transport. This makes them great to take to shows or on trail rides. Timothy pellets are also easy to store, take up less space than conventional hay and are bagged – making them perfect for rabbits or guinea pigs. No more worrying about a big mess in your car or van on the way home with hay! They also make great rabbit treats or add them to your rabbit feed to make it last longer!
Major Ag’s premium sun cured alfalfa cubes, alfalfa pellets, Timothy pellets and alfalfa grass blends will make a great addition to your feeding program. Most folks find it best to soak their cubes or pellets in water shortly before being fed, but you should consult your veterinarian or a qualified equine nutritionist for appropriate feeding methods and volume for your situation.
